The course, at Brinsbury College, is aimed at school leavers who have the required 5 GCSEs to be eligible for a farriery apprenticeship but have no experience in forgework. The course begins in September 2022 and will be run on 5 Saturdays and during half terms for 5 days allowing flexibility for prospective students.

The course will cover:
Use of the forge
Tools and their uses
Toe bends
Heels
Branch forming
Sizing
Fullering, stamping and nail punching
The manufacture of a minimum of 2 specimen shoes, one plain and one fuller concave.

Students will receive a college certificate.
